Originally from Jhulke of Bhojpur district, Baniya, 22, returned an unclaimed bag she found inside a bus while traveling to Dharan on April 9 to its owner.
She found the owner´s contact number inside the documents kept inside the bag and called the owner, Purushottam Poudel of Kathmandu. Poudel got back his lost bag on April 12.
Paudel, who was heading to his daughter´s house in Dharan-9, had left the bag inside the bus. Poudel offered Baniya Rs 200,000 cash as a prize as gratitude but she declined saying that returning the bag to its rightful owner was her responsibility.
On Wednesday, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav had congratulated her over the telephone.
