Civil society group threatens by-election boycott

MAHENDRANAGAR, March 9: An agitating civil society organization has threatened to boycott the upcoming by-elections in Kanchanpur-4 if the Far-Western University was not set up in Mahendranagar.



In a statement issued Monday, Khem Bhandari, the coordinator of the Citizens’ Coordinating Committee for Movement, warned of the boycott. Bhandari also demanded the government decide on the location of the university based on recommendation panels set up by the government in the past.



The panels have recommended the government set up the university in Kanchanpur.
