Church Boys' into semis

JHAPA, Nov 2: Kathmandu-based Church Boys' United Club secured the fourth and last semifinal berth of the Surunga Gold Cup on Monday after beating Bhutan Sporting Club 2-0 at Surunga, Jhapa.

Church Boys' will face local club Kankai Sports Foundation in the semifinal on Wednesday.Similarly, Kathmandu-based Saraswati Club will meet Rumpum Jhapa XI in another semifinal on Tuesday.

Pashang Lama and Suman Lama scored a goal each to seal the win for Church Boys'.

Pashang scored early in the 11th minute to give lead to Church Boys' that fielded four African recruits.

Suman doubled the tally in the 34th minute and helped the Kathmandu-based club to confirm its meeting with Kankai Sports Foundation.

Hemant Thapa Magar of Church Boys' got man-of-the-match award.
