Chitwan festival concludes

CHITWAN, Jan 18: The Chitwan Festival, held in Narayanghat to promote investment in mid-Nepal, concluded on Friday, recording transaction of over Rs 250 million.



Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, chief guest of the concluding ceremony, said the government has prioritized construction of the proposed Thori-Kerung road to establish Nepal as a transit route between China and India.[break]



“The construction of the strategic road would be completed at the earliest,” said Pun. He also said construction of the Kathmandu-Tarai fast track was also on the high priority of the government.



Kathmandu-Tarai fast track and Thori-Kerung road are among more than three dozen projects proposed at the Chitwan Festival under invest-mid Nepal campaign.



On the occasion, Dr Til Chandra Bhattarai, president of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), handed over a booklet incorporating proposals on more than three dozen economically viable projects on infrastructure, agriculture and service sectors for development of mid-Nepal.



According to organizers, over 450,000 visitors attended the 10-day fair.
