KATHMANDU, March 27: Police have arrested a Chinese national in possession of UDS 113,250 and Yuan 5,151 from the Tribhuvan International Airport on (TIA) on Thursday evening.

Acting on a tip-off police took hold of Ying Lou (passport No 357396840) with the illegal currencies while she was about to depart by a flight of China Southern Airlines, CZ 3068, at 9:20 pm yesterday, said DIG Bijaya Lal Kayastha, TIA Security Chief .

The illegal currencies, which Ying was apparently was smuggling to her country, were found hidden inside a false bottom of her baggage during security screening.

Preliminary investigation shows that Ying was here in Nepal for some kind of business related to garments.

Records show that she has been to Nepal for 16 times in 2014 and over dozen times in 2015.

Police are investigating into the case after taking her into custody.
