“Its strategic location between India and China gives Nepal a huge opportunity for economic development. China is ready to sign Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership with Nepal,” Wu told said at an interaction with office bearers of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Tuesday. [break]Wu also said China is always eager to share its success with its neighbors.
He also said Chinese investors were interested to put their money in Nepal´s hydropower, tourism, medicinal herbs, bio-technology, and infrastructure projects.
“We also want to enhance collaboration between private sectors of the both countries so as to strengthen the inter-governmental relation,” added Wu.
He also suggested to the Nepali private sector to explore business opportunities.
On the occasion, Nepali business leaders stressed the need to attract more Chinese tourists to Nepal. They also voiced concern over Nepal´s ballooning trade deficit with China and asked China to raise investment in Nepal to help the country bridge the existing trade imbalance.
Nepal suffered trade deficit of Rs 52 billion with China during fiscal year 2011/12, up from Rs 45 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year.
Suraj Vaidya, president of FNCCI, requested China to invest in Nepal´s infrastructure, energy, mining, education, heath and solar energy, projects.
