SAPTARI, March 15: Number of people getting married before the age of 18 years is 83 per cent in Saptari district.

At a program organized at Rajbiraj on Monday, it was informed that the number of people getting married below the age of 15 years is 28 per cent in the district. This is the finding of a survey carried out by the Campaign in 2015.

Coordinator of the National Campaign for Elimination of Child Marriage and Dowry Practice, Raj Kumar Mahato, said that dowry is the main cause behind increasing number of child marriage. He further said that such problem of child marriage has also been seen in Kathmandu as well as other places not only in Tarai-Madhes.

Similarly, Campaign member Rupa Jha stressed that all should raise their voices from their places to end the dowry practice. RSS
