Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Peter Tabor, Danish national as well as a player at Shanghai Vikings, informed that altogether 12 clubs, including Nepal-Germany FC and Shanghai Vikings, will take part in the tournament to be played in league-cum-knockout format.MMC, Futsal Factory, Dhuku Futsal, two clubs of Swayambhu Recreation Center, Malpi, Pedal Sports, Team MTB, Masala FC, The A Team are other local teams to take part in the charity football tournament.
The teams will be divided into four groups with the group winners qualifying for the semifinals. Every matches of the tournament will be played for 30 minutes.
The foreign clubs will pay $ 2,000, while local clubs will pay Rs 10,000 to take part in the tournament.
"We have targeted to raise $ 40,000 for the construction and maintenance of schools as lots of children are unable to go to school due to the devastating earthquake," informed Tabor, the co-founder and co-organizer of the event.
Tabor said that the idea to organize the event came after Kanchha Ghale, a Nepali national living in China and playing for Shanghai Vikings, briefed about the situation of Nepal after the devastating earthquake.
CR7, Cockett Marine Oil, Form III, Hovmark, Absortech and Tabor Consulting have been supporting the charity football event.
MMC President Solim Gurung said that MMC would support anyone who comes to help Nepal. He informed that MMC will look after all technical aspects of the tournament including human resources, arrangement of the venue and accommodations.
