Talking to Chairman of the Constitutional Committee, Nilamber Acharya, during the meeting with him at his residence in Lazimpat, on Wednesday, Maoist Chairman Dahal said the political parties were serious on taking the peace process to its logical end and on writing constitution after holding regular talks among them.[break]
Acharya met Dahal to draw his attention for the constitution writing at a time when the Constituent Assembly term has only 54 days.
Dahal expressed his confidence that the nation would get new constitution within the slated timeframe, saying the army integration process would be concluded within the April 12 deadline since the constitution writing process would have moved forward smoothly by that time.
The Maoist chairman said the initiation taken by Acharya to resolve the disputed issues appeared during the constitution writing process was positive and assured to finalize them at the earliest.
On the occasion, Chairman Acharya said he has intensified his meetings with the senior leaders of the major political parties and urged them to be serious to speed up the process for writing the constitution. Acharya urged the senior leaders to forge consensus on the disputed issues and participate in the CC and the Dispute Resolution Sub-committee meetings regularly.
During the meeting, the leaders held discussion on removing the differences of opinion among political parties and also stressed on holding regular discussions to conclude the peace and constitution writing process.
Chiefly, the political parties have differences of opinion on state restructuring process, electoral system, and form of governance in the Constituent Assembly.
