Likewise, Direction Nepal, an event management company with the same motive is organizing the 9th Higher Education and Career Fair 2011.
The exhibition will be held from June 23 to 26, from 11 am to 6 pm, at the Exhibition Hall, in Brikutimandap, Kathmandu.
Major branding of the event has been done by Islington College in Kathmandu, while Republica is the media sponsor.
To know more about the exhibition and its highlights, Republica caught up with Trilokeswor Malla, Managing Director of Direction Nepal.

What are the objectives of the exhibiton?
This is the ninth time that we have organized this event. The fair has been designed in order to provide higher education opportunities to students and help them figure out where and what to study. We have also created a platform to provide counseling and help them choose a safe career path.
Every year we have organized the event to provide counseling and opportunities to students with our state-of-the-art facilities. It also helps educational institutions on the look out for young, dynamic and energetic employees.
With so many education fairs taking place, how will it be different from the others?
Currently there are many education fairs taking place to enlighten those opting for further studies abroad. Representatives from India have been coming here for such events.
Education consultancies are doing it as well but in our case, we feel that although we have many colleges that offer quality education, the question is why should students still opt to go abroad? So our intention is to provide counseling and services through the fair and give priority to the education industry of Nepal.
Has there been a follow up from the previous fairs that have taken place?
From every event organized we have been learning and are trying to incorporate new things to every fair. Previously it was just counseling centers trying to promote their organizations but now the local education industries are also trying to provide counseling to the students. So in order to cater to the needs of the students, besides the information of colleges, the fairs now will include seminars as well as workshops.
How successful have the previous education fairs been?
Since the last four years the educational fair has been picking up and doing really well. Good response has been provided by the participants as well. The end results have also been good where we have been getting positive feedbacks that such education fairs should take place.
Who are the main target audience?
Our target audiences are the fresh SLC graduates, students who completed their plus two education and the current class 11 students.
What are the main highlights of the event?
It is a four day event. Firstly we have a stall for each participating college and university. The representatives will brief participants about all that they offer and their curriculum.
They will also provide counseling and scholarship opportunities. We will have presentations and seminars as well. So students can discover the latest subjects being offered, network with other institutions and also develop key business relationships.
How many colleges are participating?
On an average 150 colleges are participating and besides the colleges of Kathmandu, we have colleges from Birgung, Pokhara participating as well. Various counselors and representatives from Delhi, Bangalore and Singapore will also be present at the fair.
We conceptualized to bring various national and international educational institutions together for a more effective, productive and close interaction between them. It has been estimated that around 40,000 people will be attending and that has been our target as well..
How do you think students can benefit from the education fair?
Many students are misguided and do not get proper psychological counseling. So they study subjects like science or others out of compulsion to fulfill their parent’s dreams or just due to peer pressure. Also lack of opportunities prompts them to study subjects that least interests them.
So at education fairs, and such events they are informed about various subjects that are available, have the option of comparing various institutions and can opt for the best one.
