There are reports that former New Zealand batsman Chris Harris would be hired as the batting coach while some Sri Lankan fast bowlers are being considered for the bowling coach. However, Pyakuryal declined to disclose the names.
NSC staffers celebrate golden jubilee
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): A week-long program organized by the National Sports Council (NSC) Employee Association to celebrate the golden jubilee of NSC kicked off on Thursday. Youth and Sports Minister Ram Kumar Shrestha, who is also the chairman of NSC, inaugurated the function. Meanwhile, Laxman Chaudhary won men´s 3km road race organized for NSC staffers as part of the celebrations.
He clocked 14 minutes 49.8 seconds while Sushil Tamang and Gyaneshwar Maharjan finished second and third respectively. Kumari Nagarkoti clinched the road race gold in women´s section while Manika Pandey and Ritamaiya Prajapati finished second and third respectively. Likewise, Kathmandu District Sports Development Committee defeated Lalitpur DSD Committee to win gold in tug-of-war event. The association will organize a blood donation camp on Friday.
Hap-KI-Do seminar
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Nepal Hap-Ki-Do Association is organizing the First Nepal Hap-Ki-Do Seminar on Friday and Saturday. According to the association´s president Yanip Maharjan, the seminar includes referees´ and coaches´ courses. He said 50 coaches, 24 referees and 150 players will undertake the training. Hap-Ki-Do is a mixed martial art developed in Korea.
