CA panel for parliament control over judiciary

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The Constituent Assembly (CA) Committee on Determining Judicial System has voted for yet another provision backed by the Unified CPN (Maoist) on Thursday in favor of the parliament appointing, taking action and sacking a judge.

The provision received 23 votes. The provision of granting the Judicial Council the right to appoint, take action and sack justices received 19 votes in the 43-member committee headed by CA member Prabhu Shah. [break]



This is the third time in as many days that the committee voted on provisions relating to the judiciary. The Maoists have majority in the committee.
