As per the newly amended calendar, the CA should have completed deliberations on the preliminary drafts and concept papers prepared by the CA committees -- 10 thematic committees and one constitutional committee -- by Sunday. But only five CA committees have submitted their reports to the CA so far, while the rest have not been able to finalize their reports due to serious differences among the major political parties -- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML.
“We are likely to change the calendar, but CA chair Subas Nembang is currently outside Kathmandu. The calendar will be changed after he returns to Kathmandu,” said CA spokesperson Mukunda Sharma.
The CA calendar was formulated so as to facilitate the constitution writing on time. As per the CA calendar, the new constitution will be promulgated on May 10, 2010.
