At a meeting on Sunday, the drafting committee made the division of work among the lawmakers and tasked five of its subcommittees with the responsibility of preparing drafts on specific thematic topics.
The committee has asked the subcommittees to complete the job and submit their reports by Wednesday.The CA has asked the drafting committee to prepare the first draft of the new constitution within 15 days.
Addressing the meeting, the drafting committee chair Krishna Sitaula announced to complete the given task within 12 to 15 days.
The subcommittees have been formed and asked to prepare draft of specific chapters such as preamble, fundamental rights, executive, legislative and judiciary. The subcommittees began their work from Sunday.
Notably, lawmakers from even those political parties who had walked out of the CA meeting on Friday participated in the meeting of the drafting committee.
A taskforce separately formed within the committee has begun its task of settling the issues forwarded by the CA that remained unresolved at the CPDCC.
Meanwhile, CA Chairman Subas Nembang is planning to convene a meeting with top leaders of major political forces and ask them to come up with a timeline to complete the remaining tasks of constitution making process and the date to promulgate the new constitution.
"The chairman will immediately talk to the top leaders because a timeline has become necessary even to make the task of preparatory work more effective," said a source at the CA secretariat.
Leaders have claimed they are for promulgating new constitution by mid-August.
