BUSINESS BRIEFS: Virtual banking school opens

KATHMANDU, July 9: School of Banking Business Research (SBBR) began operations as the first virtual bank in the country on Friday, committing to produce much-needed manpower for the banking sector. Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Bir Bikram Rayamajhi inaugurated the school.



Shiva Bhakta Pokharel, CEO of SBBR, said the bank has introduced the concept of virtual banking which incorporates real-time banking environment and methods of conducting banking business. [break]



“Our training facility at New Baneshwar makes use of all the elements used in a real bank like checks, vouchers, bills and banking software to give students the feel and energy of learning inside a real banking environment,” he said.



A press statement adds that students at SBBR will learn under the direct guidance and supervision of seasoned faculties from banks and financial institutions. The regular activities of a real bank, which includes account handling, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loans, LC, etc will be taught in the virtual banking school.





Sunrise in Bhadrapur



KATHMANDU, July 9: Sunrise Bank established its 38th branch in Bhadrapur of Jhapa on Friday.



"Due to growing population and increasing industrialization there, Sunrise´s attention was drawn at Bhadrapur," said Suman Neupane, the chief executive officer of the Bank, in a press statement issued Friday.





Ratna Laxmi opens



KATHMANDU, July 9: Ratna Laxmi International has been formally inaugurated as the dealer of renowned brands like Komatsu, Kia motors, Pramac generators and distributor of Same-Deutz Fahr tractors and Power Tillers.



"It will be providing sales and after-sale services of the world class Komatsu construction and mining equipment in the hydraulic excavator, bulldozer, loader, grader, roller and backhoe loader categories," said a press statement. Similarly, it will provide sales and services of cars from Kia.



On the occasion of the inauguration, Ratna Laxmi has offered special price for its products and Thailand trip offer to the customers who book Komatsu equipment.
