The report was jointly prepared by United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and the Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI) under the supervision of the NPC -- the apex policy making body of the government.
The report covers all aspects of food security, poverty and malnutrition in Nepal in order to provide a guideline for developing a comprehensive national food security plan.
Speaking on the occasion, Pokhrel stressed on the specific attention on particular issues of food security rather than generalizing the programs while implementing them.
Richard Ragan, country director for WFP-Nepal said better access to the food would help establish stability in the country.
Sunrise bank´s profit up by 125%
Sunrise Bank Limited has increased its operating profit by 125 percent in the fiscal year 2009/10. According to a press statement issued by the bank, the bank has also been able to expand its branches from 24 to 40 in the fiscal year.
Within the period of 33 months of operation, the bank was able to give service to more than 10,000 customers and collected deposits worth Rs 15 billion and loaned Rs 12 billion.
Laxmi Bank in Taulihawa
Laxmi Bank Ltd has opened its 23rd branch in Taulihawa on Wednesday. Laxmi Bank has become the first commercial bank to open its branch in Taulihawa. “Taulihawa branch will strengthen the bank´s presence and enhance banking access to a wider base,” read a statement issued by the bank.
The bank has been focusing on remittance and internet banking since its establishment in 2002.
