Burial grounds for concerned communities

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The Ministry of Culture has begun an initiative to address the problem of burial ground faced by the people belonging to Christian, Kirat and Muslim communities living in Kathmandu valley.

“We are looking into the issue as the newly appointed minister has instructed us to workout a permanent solution to the problem,” said spokesperson to the Ministry of Culture Jhamak Prasad Sharma, adding, “We will form a committee once the Ministry of Finance allocates budget for the purpose.”



He said that the officials of the Ministry of Culture will hold discussions with the concerned communities before forming the committee.



Asked how long would it take for the ministry to come up with its recommendations, Sharma said, “The committee will submit its report in three months.”



He said Ministry of Culture took the initiative to solve the problem permanently following complaints from the concerned communities that the burial grounds allocated to them at Pashupati area is not sufficient.
