Manjeet Shrestha (29 runs), Santosh Baral (21 runs) and Pushpa Thapa (26 runs) were the major contributors for NASA. Winners received a check of Rs 100,000 and shield while runners-up RR bagged Rs 40,000.
Shrestha won man of the series award and Rs 20,000 for his all-round performance. NASA´s Prem Chaudhary, Pentagon´s Santosh Bhatta got the awards for the best batsman and the best bowler respectively while CCRC´s Subash Pradhan and SPA´s Prakash Khadka received best fielders award.
Prime, Golden Gate win titles
KATHMANDU: Prime won the title of women´s category in the Kirtipur Mahotsav Cup Open Women´s and Men´s Basketball Tournament on Saturday while Golden Gate won the title of men´s section. Prime defeated Whitehouse 39-31 in the final of women´s section and bagged Rs 10,000 in the tournament organized by Naya Bazaar Club. Whitehouse were shattered even in the men´s category as Golden Gate won the final match 74-58. Golden Gate received Rs 20,000 along with the trophy. Joel Bortoli scored 23 points for Golden Gate and was awarded with the title of the most valuable player. In women´s category, Preeti Tulachan of Prime won the most valuable player title.
Innovative in quarterfinal
KATHMANDU: Hosts Innovative English School reached the quarterfinals of junior boys´ category in the First Innovative Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. The hosts thrashed Wilson Academy 47-21 on their home court in the group C match of the tournament. In senior boys´ section, Gyanodaya eased past Chandani 54-10 while Gyan Niketan, Sambotta and Nirmal School won their respective matches. In senior girls´ category, Gyanodaya struggled past Mahendra Bhawan 35-34 but Innovative lost to Mahendra Bhawan 10-23 in the next match.
TIA, AIF win
KATHMANDU: Defending champions Trungram International Academy (TIA) and Awareness International Academy (AIA) won their respective matches of the senior boys´ category in the Fifth Kwiks Greenland Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. TIA thrashed North Point 42-22 and eased past Third Eye 39-14 to enjoy the double victories. AIA beat Prithvi 43-37 in the next match of the category while Angels´ Heart defeated Forward Academy 34-26 and Fluorescent struggled past Newton 36-35. In junior boys´ section, Angels´ Heart and Himalayan Helpless Children Academy won their respective matches.
