Bodies of 3 fishermen recovered

POKHARA, April 18: The dead bodies of three fishermen who went missing after thunderbolt struck their boat in Begnas Lake of Pokhara were recovered on Monday.



Two separate teams of Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police personnel, accompanied by local villagers and boat operators, recovered the dead body of Shanti Jalari, 25, a resident of Lekhnath municipality-9, on Monday morning.[break]



The dead bodies of Ganga Jalari, 18, and Suresh Jalari, who hailed from the same place, were found later in afternoon.



With the recovery of three dead bodies, the death toll caused by Sunday´s lightning strike has reached four. On Sunday, Nar Bahadur Jalari, 32, had died minutes after thunderbolt hit their boat.



They had gone to the lake for fishing. The lightning hit them while they were returning to the shore following a heavy rainfall. Of the total six fishermen on five separate boats, only two have survived.



While Hem Bahadur Jalari, husband of Shanti, one of the four dead fishermen, survived by quickly jumping off the boat, Basu Jalari, 27, sustained serious burns to his body. He is undergoing treatment in Pokhara. Another fisherman, Suresh Jalari, 21, is still missing, said police inspector Mahendra Khadka.
