RAUTAHAT, July 22: When Saroj Koshari, 41, realized that the draft constitution has not much to offer for visually impaired people like him, he walked to the venue for feedback collection in Gaur-1, hoping to raise some issues.

A local teacher at Gaur Municipality-8, he was supposed to give feedback from Rautahat Constituency-1. However, he was left utterly disappointed when his hope of providing feedback was dashed after protests by Madhes-based parties resulted in the cancellation of the program.Instead of giving up, he went to take part in the feedback collection function at constituency-2. He faced obstructions even there. Koshari then travelled 27 kilometers in the scorching heat and reached constituency-3 and finally made his voice heard.

"Although I'm blind, the constitution should not turn a blind eye on visually-impaired people like me. The constitution should secure our rights," said Koshari.

Like Saroj, many people were disappointed for having to face unnecessary hassles at feedback collection venues.

UCPN (Maoist) leader Chhotelal Shah expressed happiness at being able to provide feedback despite various hassles. "I don't know if my feedback will be incorporated in the new constitution. Nonetheless, I'm glad that my views were heard," he said.
