A team led by Inspector Manjit Mukarung on Monday had arrested Singheswor Mahara, 35, of Basantapur-7, Sarlahi; Jeetendra Prasad Shah Rauniyar,50 ,of Ishworpur-1, Sarlahi; Sitadevi Yadav ,60, of Basantapur-7 of Sarlahi; Madhusudhan Rijal,32, of Ghanshikuwa-3 of Tanahu and Gopal Mahara, 25, of Mahendranagar-10, Kanchanpur. Police on Tuesday had arrested Kumar Magar 39 of Sanichare-7 of Morang who is also the owner of a hotel named Koshi Sangam Guest House at Gangabu where Singheswor had stored the explosives.
Police said the five were planning blasts in the capital after the government refused to hold talks with the group labeling them a “criminal group”. Jeetendra had planned to form a new party to hold talks with the government, police said.
Police have seized 51 sets of GI pipes of various sizes, 17 pieces of nuts and bolts and other explosives, letters written to businessmen and industrialists, SIM cards, pamphlets and other official documents.
