BIZ BRIEFS: MAW workshop on traffic awareness

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): MAW Enterprises Private Ltd, the sole authorized distributor of Yamaha bikes in the country, conducted a one-day workshop on road safety awareness among bike riders and pedestrians on Thursday at Thames International College in Kathmandu.



According to a statement, the workshop was organized as a part of the company´s social corporate responsibility (CSR) campaign Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS). "More than 70 participants, including women and men, were present in the workshop," reads the statement.



The workshop was focused on the most common causes of accidents and ways of avoiding them and precautions to take while riding.



"Scientific evaluation of critical traffic conditions, proper riding posture, and most importantly the significance of traffic rules were discussed at the workshop," states the statement. According to the statement, the campaign started in Nepal two years ago.



"MAW is working on raising awareness among people about road accidents," reads the statement.



PAF seeks actions against Faith Nepal



KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): The Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) has found Faith Nepal, an organization working in Dhanusa district, involved in financial irregularities worth of Rs 5.7 million.



According to a statement issued on Thursday, PAF has moved the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) seeking appropriate punishment to Lila Kant Das, the executive director of Faith Nepal, and the organization itself for misappropriating the money that was supposed to be utilized for poverty alleviation in the district.



"PAF has submitted all the necessary documents to the CIAA to carry out the investigation and take necessary action against the irregularities," reads the statement.

PAF had formed a committee comprising representatives of National Vigilance Centre (NVC) officials and board members of PAF to investigate the activities of Faith Nepal.



"PAF has moved the CIAA based on the report of the committee," it said.
