At a function organized to pay tribute to him by the Martyr Memorial Committee at the site of the statue of Martyr Shastri at Pulchowk in Lalitpur, they paid their respect by garlanding on the statue of Shastri.[break]
Talking about the contribution of Martyr Shukraraj during the movement against Rana regime and sacrifice for democracy, speakers at the programme said that the new generation should be active to fulfill his dreams.
Politician Dirgharaj Prasain, journalist Ram Krishna Karmacharya, Usha Singh, daughter of Martyr Chiniya Lal Singh, among others, said that his contribution for democracy and for change is incomparable and added that it will be a true respect to him if everyone moves ahead by internalizing his ideology and following the path shown by him.
The then Rana regime hanged Shukraraj on a Khari tree at Pachali in Teku of Kathmandu on Magh 10, 1997 BS. He was born on the day of Janaipurnima in 1950 BS.
