Bird flu confirmed in Bhaktapur poultry farms

The chickens were destroyed after bird flu was confirmed in poultry farms in the district.

BHAKTAPUR, June 25: Authorities in Changunarayan and Suryabinayak municipalities of Bhaktapur district have culled thousands of chickens following outbreaks of bird flu in poultry farms.



Dr Amik Shrestha of the Livestock Service Office said that 38,795 chickens have so far been destroyed in wards 2, 8, and 9 of Changunarayan Municipality after bird flu was detected there.

Likewise, 9,378 chickens were culled in wards 1, 4, and 8 of Suryabinayak Municipality.


Dr Shrestha said the chickens were destroyed after bird flu was confirmed in poultry farms in the district.
