KATHMANDU, Oct 2: The meeting held between the three major parties and the Tharuhat/Tharuwan Struggle committee has ended inconclusively.

The meeting held in Singha Durbar this morning broke up without entering into the major political agenda.

"We will not sit for talks until the decision made by the Cabinet on Thursday evening is implemented," said committee spokesperson Amanlal Modi.

Interlocutor Gopal Dahit, leader of Tharuhat Tarai Party Nepal, said they will sit for talks only after they receive a written commitment from the three parties to implement the proposals put forward in the Legislature-Parliament within 24 hours.

"They told us to call off our protest and said that they will address those demands that are deemed to be resolved. If this is the case, talks will not move ahead ," Dahit told Republica.

The Cabinet meeting yesterday evening decided to retreat security personnel from the riot-hit Tarai belt, withdraw cases filed against the arrested during the Madhes protest except those involved in grave crimes and provide treatment to the injured.

Mahesh Acharya, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Agni Kharel representing three parties and Ramjanam Chaudhari, Gopal Dahit, Amanlal Modi and Ganga Tharu from the Tharu community had participated in the meeting.
