"I spoke to Mahanthaji (Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur) this morning. The front led by him has formed a four-member talks team. I also spoke to a member of the talks team. Both the teams will formally sit for talks tomorrow (Tuesday)," Acharya told reporters.
Agitating four Madhes-based parties under the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Sunday had formed a four-member talks team for holding dialogue with the major three parties on constitutional issues.
No serious talks yet on amendment: Madhesi, UML leaders
A meeting of the top UDMF leaders on Sunday formed the talks team comprised of Sadbhavana Party Co-Chair Laxman Lal Karna, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) Vice-Chairman Lal Babu Raut, Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) General Secretary Sarvendra Nath Shukla and Tarai-Madhes Sadbhavana Party, Nepal (TMSPN) leader Ram Naresh Raya. Despite forming the talks-team, the UDMF has been alleging that the major three parties are not serious about their demands.
"This morning (Monday morning), we three parties reviewed the talks held till date. The common understanding is that all agitating sides, including the one led by Mahantha jee, another led by Bijaya jee (Madhesi People's Rights Forum-Democratic Chairman Bijaya Gachchhadar) and Tharu community, are ready to settle things through dialogue," said Acharya.
"We all have agreed to make the negotiation fruitful and no one is in a mood to prolong this situation further," he added.
Though the talks team formed by the major three parties had urged the agitating parties to end protest and blockade at the border checkpoints before sitting for formal talks, the UDMF has said it will continue talks and protests simultaneously.
