Bhattarai ashram to be developed into museum

LALITPUR, March 7: The Bhattarai ashram, the government-provided residence of late leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai at Thaiba of Lalitpur is to be developed into a museum and a spiritual centre.



The ashram has already been named under the Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Academy by the government led by then Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.[break]



Following the demise of Bhattarai, the Academy shall be developed as a Trust to promote his ideals and principles, said President of the Academy, PL Singh.



Likewise, former Tourism Minister and Bhattarai’s aide, Sharat Singh Bhandari said efforts shall be made to establish the Bhattarai ashram as a spiritual meditation centre.



Consultation shall be held with the Academy and other stakeholders in order to develop the ashram as a museum and a memorial, he added.



Bhandari also said that the bodily remains of late Bhattarai shall be interred at the ashram to transform it into a sacred mausoleum.



Bhattarai had been living at the government ashram in Badegaon of Thaiba-3 since the past four years.
