Bharati sent to judicial custody

KATHMANDU, July 28: Shambhu Bharati, one of the prime accused in the Sudan scam, has been sent to judicial custody on Thursday as the hearing on the charge against him in the Special Court continued on Thursday.



Proprietor of Bhagwati Traders, Bharati had worked as a local agent for London-based Assured Risks Pvt Ltd that supplied Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other logistics to Nepali peacekeepers deployed in Darfur, Sudan. [break]



Similarly, suspended SSP Shiva Lamichhane and SP Niraj Bahadur Shahi and former Deputy Inspector General Shyam Singh Thapa, who have also accused of involvement in the scam, have also been sent to judicial custody.
