CHITWAN, April 30: CPN-UML Vice-chairperson Bidya  Bhandari said on Monday that the party’s decision to go for 12 provinces was not unanimous and that the party is yet to take an official decision in that regard.

Since the decision was taken by a minority, the decision cannot be taken as official, Bhandari argued while talking to media persons at a press conference organized by the Chitwan chapter of Press Chautari at the  Bharatpur airport. [break]

The UML leader further said her party will be floating a proposal suggesting five to seven provincial states.

Ethnicity based federalism will create anarchy in the country, she opined and added that the possibility of UML floating a proposal for a mixed electoral system is high.

The chances of incumbent government promulgating the new statute is slim, she said and stressed that a national consensus government will have to be formed soon, which she said would promulgate the new constitution.
