BHAKTAPUR, Sept. 6: Local inhabitants of Tarkhagal, Dadhikot, in Bhaktapur district have constructed a water reservoir to address the shortage of drinking water.

The locals have erected a wall and built a reservoir blocking the natural flow of the water and the land around the reservoir absorbs the water and comes out as a spring in the area below the reservoir as per the bio-engineering technology, said secretary of the Ananta Sewa Guthi, Sagar Risal.[break]

The reservoir has a capacity of storing around 83,000 liters of water. The soil erosion in the lower part of the area is expected to be controlled by the construction of the reservoir. As many as 150 households would be benefitted if the technology comes out successful.

Ananta Sewa Guthi and Ananta Lingeshwor Community Forest have supported for the construction of the reservoir.
