The bronze drum went to Denise Zmekhol for her documentary “ Children of Amazon” for scoring the third place among the best films.
This year, the jury members of the festival were Jason Ryle, festival director of ImagiNATIVE film festival, Suvi West, festival director of Skabmagovat film festival and renowned Nepali filmmaker Tsering Rhitar Sherpa.
The three winning films --“Before Tomorrow” told the story of two native families meeting after a long time, “ Children of Amazon” chronicled Brazilian director Zmekol’s journey to the Amazon forests 15 years after having photographed two children their and “Me, My Gipsy Family & Woody Allen” relayed the struggles of a 19-year-old gipsy girl, Ireto.
In the Nepali film category, among the eight Nepali screened films, Loonibha Tuladhar’s documentary, “Buwegu Maanatnu: The Spinner of Flights” won the Encouragement Award along with a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The Public Choice Award was won by Dhurba Pun Magar and Bibish Budha Magar for their film, “ Modyalni”. Tuladhar’s documentary told the story of Meera Sthapit, 50, a spindle maker and “ Modyalni” portrayed the lifestyle of Magar people through a touching love story.
