Speaking at the Reporters Club in the capital on Tuesday, Baidya argued that Prime Minister Bhattarai should step down to pave the way for the formation of a national consensus government. [break]He maintained that the present government has become irrelevant because of its failure to address the problems of the common people.
Alleging that the current government is working on cue from the NC and the UML, Baidya also threatened to take to the streets if the prime minister did not tender his resignation. "We will take to the streets to bring down the government, if it did not step down. We are confused whether the government is headed by our party´s or Nepali Congress or CPN-UML."
The Baidya faction is also unhappy with the Bhattarai government´s signing of Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) with India and accuses the government of compromising with national sovereignty.
Baidya also claimed that integration process would not stop due to the issue of rank determination of the People´s Liberation Army (PLA). He also said that the party leadership would not obstruct the integration process and that the peace process had already reached its final stages.
