Bagmati Province celebrates 3rd Language Day

In his message of best wishes today on the occasion of the Language Day in the Bagmati Province, the Chief Minister said, " It is a responsibility of all of us to protect, promote and develop all languages.

BAGMATI, May 7: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Indra Bahadur Baniya, has said the provincial government is continuously working to enhance the respect and recognition of mother tongues, education on mother languages and their uses. 



In his message of best wishes today on the occasion of the Language Day in the Bagmati Province, the Chief Minister said, " It is a responsibility of all of us to protect, promote and develop all languages.


Today, or Baisakh 24 in the Nepali calendar, is observed as the Language Day in the province, marking the implementation of the 'Province Government Official Languages  Act 2080 BS'.

Bagmati Province has been celebrating the Day since 2081 BS. The implementation of the Act recognised Tamang and Nepal Bhasha ( Newar Language) as the official languages of the province. 


On the occasion of Language Day, the province government has announced a public holiday across the province today.
