Baglung municipality to demolish 34 houses

BAGLUNG, Aug 14: Baglung municipality says it is preparing to demolish three dozen illegally built houses as part of its efforts to expand roads in the city. The municipalities say the houses were built in several parts of the city by encroaching ring road.



In the first phase, Baglung municipality will start the project by demolishing four houses in Shiva Dhara Chowk. [break]The World Bank had provided financial assistance of Rs. 30 million to blacktop the road around Shiva Dhara Chowk area and also expand its width by seven meters.



Around 34 houses are built by encroaching road within the 18 kilometer ring road. House owners have already been handed official notices informing them about the demolitions.



“For now, we have already sent letters to the house owners to vacate the houses that are to be demolished,” said Paudel, Executive Director of Baglung municipality.



“We are planning to demolish all the houses that have encroached the road.” Poudel further added that if the denizens don´t support demolition project, municipality will seek help from different political.
