KATHMANDU, May 8: Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) on Friday called on all political parties to rise above their partisan interests to take the ongoing peace process to a logical end.

Issuing a press statement, the umbrella body of youth organizations across the country made the call in the wake of growing political instability after the Maoist stepped down from the government early this week.

The statement said latest political development in the country has put the peace process, democracy, human rights, press freedom and constitution drafting issues on the backburner. The youth body asked all political parties to fully abide by the past agreements including Comprehensive Peace Agreement and Interim Constitution to bail the country out of the current situation of political uncertainty.

The AYON alleged that the political parties seemed concerned more about inter-party wrangling rather than about their mandate to draft a new constitution of federal republic Nepal. It also cautioned that blaming each other would only keep the problem intact.
