Australia announces assistance package of USD 10 m

KATHMANDU, May 5: The government of Australia has announced a substantial 10 million US dollar (around one billion rupees) for Nepal in response to the earthquake.

The assistance would be used for food security, health service, shelter, drinking water and sanitation of the people of the most quake-hit areas. The assistance would be spent through Care Nepal.

A press statement issued today by the Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Glenn White, states that Australia is to provide the assistance for the relief and rehabilitation task at the time of devastation in Nepal by maintaining friendly relations between both the countries.

Foreign Minister of Australia, Julie Bishop, announced the support, reads the statement. RSS
