CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand, Feb 24: Australia captain Steve Smith has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for dissent over an umpire's decision on the fourth day of the second test against New Zealand.

After TV umpire Richard Illingworth turned down a referral against Kane Williamson, the ICC said in a statement on Wednesday that "Smith had shown his obvious disappointment at the outcome by questioning on-field umpire (Ranmore) Martinesz about his decision and that of the TV umpire."Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood pleaded guilty for disputing the same decision on Tuesday, and was fined 15 percent of his match fee, or about $2,300.

Smith was charged by match referee Chris Broad of England on Wednesday after Australia completed a seven-wicket win and a 2-0 sweep of the series.
