Armed group robs three passengers buses in Salyan

DANG, Oct 9: An unidentified armed group has looted three commuter buses in Suikot Barula of Salyan district on Friday around 3 am.

Passengers in those buses were returning home to Rukum district from India to celebrate the upcoming Dashain festival with their families. They had boarded the buses in Nepalgunj.According to the District Police Office (DPO), Salyan, Rs 2.65 million, gold ornaments and around 100 sets of mobile phones were robbed from passengers of the three buses. Police said the group of seven to eight people were masked and armed with domestic weapons including khukuris and pistols.

"Passengers informed that the masked men stopped their bus, looted them and fled the scene," said Assistant Sub-Inspector Bir Bahadur Bhandari of the DPO. One passenger Sumlal Gharti Magar has been critically injured while retaliating against the robbers. He has been referred to Chaurjhari Mission Hospital after preliminary treatment at a health post in nearby Neta Bazaar.

Police are launching a manhunt to nab the looters.
