The registration of births, deaths, marriages, migration, and land ownership certificates, remain disrupted. VDC secretaries went on strike on September 1.
“Locals are unable to make passports, citizenship certificates and other documents due to the ongoing strike. Students along with others who are aiming to go abroad are the most affected ones,” said Bindeshwar Raut of Portaha VDC.
According to Parashuram Yadav, chairman of the Joint Struggle Committee formed by the VDC staffers, they were compelled to take to the street after the government paid no heed to their demands.
The staffers led by the struggling committee have been staging series of protests from August 26, the first day of strike.
The committee on Friday has submitted a memorandum letter to the Saptari Chief District Officer stating that the strike will be kept firm if government denies their demands any further.
"Our protest has surpassed a month now, but we have not received any assurance on our demands from any of the governmental authorities," said Yadav. "We will continue the stir until our demands are met," he further added.
