Aircraft averts mishap at Lukla Airport

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: An aircraft chartered by Tara Air averted a mishap at the Lukla Airport on Sunday afternoon.



The 9N-AVO twin-otter owned by Nepal Airlines hit the sidewall at the airport after experiencing problems with the hydrolic system, an official at the airport confirmed. [break]



Sixteen passengers, most of them foreigners, and three crew members including Captain Pradhan are safe.



The incident happened during taxi for the take-off. There is a minor damage on the nose of the aircraft.



Tara Air has hired the aircraft from Nepal Airlines Corporation.
