Agitators shut Birgunj customs office

BIRGUNJ, May 12: The Birgunj customs office has been shut on Saturday by locals demanding that the southern transit city be made a provincial capital.



The agitators have also shut the transit route across the the Nepal-India border. Only pedestrians and cyclists have been allowed to cross the border.



Import of goods from India and revenue collection have been affected due to the strike said to last till 2 pm today. However, it is said the strike could prolong.
