Vehicles going to different destinations from here have started operating since the morning today after the lifting of the general strike.

Similarly, industries, educational institutions and government offices have opened and the general public has felt a sigh of relief from four days of crippling banda.

The Forum decided to withdraw the shutdown following an agreement between it and the district administration after talks were held between the two sides in Taulihawa, the district headquarters until late Tuesday.

It was agreed after the talks that recommendation would be made to the centre for taking action against Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force (APF) Prakash Majhi, who is accused of mistreating the Forum cadres and for providing compensation to the people injured in the incident.
