On March 24, the first day of the festival, by the time the festival attendees changed into their party gear, freshened up and had their lunch, the bands had already started playing.
The afternoon rolled by with melodious tunes of The Acoustics (Shanti Music) and Himalayan Connection and dusk fell with the techno sounds of Willamette Underground.

But the actual dancing and revelry started when Street Life Collective took to stage followed by the incredible reggae band Joint family International and the fire dance that never fails to captivate audience.
A bit disappointing in his first set, DJ Phucchey in his second redeemed himself with his astounding dance tracks that had the revelers dancing and jumping in the ground till 1am.
On the second day of the festival, while some chose to enjoy a lazy afternoon camped outside their colorful tents listening to mellow music, the adventure seekers were out experiencing the thrill of bungy, canyon swing and canyoning.
“I was there purely to chill out and have fun and I return satisfied,” says Dipendra Tamang, a first timer at Sun Dance, “The music was awesome, the accommodation was great, I had a great company of friends, the ambience is always beautiful, and I’ll definitely be coming back next year too.”
Darshan Shrestha from The Last Resort, who was coordinating the festival this year, says the festival has had a steady growth and it’s always been a success, something that people look forward to.
“The musicians vary every year, but the Sun Dance feels remains the same - people come, enjoy, listen to great music, relax and have a good time,” Shrestha says.
