The accident occurred when the over speeding bus (Na 4 Kha 3043) turned turtle by the roadside at around 4:30 pm, Area Police Office Nijgadh said. Three of those killed in the accident have been identified as Chandra Kumari Karki of Chandranigahapur, Thekan Raut of Rautahat and policeman Kanhaiya Harijan of Butwal Training Center. [break]
The rest have not been identified yet. Two persons died on the spot while four others died while receiving treatment at Nijgadh and Birgunj, police said.
More than 45 passengers were aboard the bus. The injured, some of whom are in a critical condition, are undergoing treatment at local medical centers and at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj.
