Meanwhile, the kidnappers have refused to reduce the ransom amount. They had initially demanded Rs 5,000,000 and then offered a discount of Rs 500,000 before settling for three million.
They called the kid´s father Garib on Wednesday night and handed over the phone to Subash after Garib explained he could not pay more than Rs 125,000 at any cost. “Please pay the ransom, even if you have to sell everything, including house and land,” a relative quoted Subash as saying over the phone before it was disconnected.
The kidnappers also warned shutting down Lahan and deploying police teams would bear no fruit. Lahan Chamber of Commerce called for an indefinite shutdown on Wednesday to press the local administration to track down the culprits at the earliest.
