A total of 36 houses were gutted in the fire that broke out from the kitchen of Dilip Raye in Chhataul village of Sarlahi Saturday morning. [break]
Similarly, a total of 17 houses were destroyed when a fire broke out in Madhyaharsahi and Rajgunj villages of Sunsari district. The fire that started from the kitchen room of Bhartu Yadav in Rajgunj Sinuwari-5 spread to adjacent Madhyaharahi village, destroying houses of Bhartu Yadav, Chandan Yadav and Doniya Yadav.
It took almost one hour for two fire engines to take the fire under control. In Chhataul, it took two hours for the police and locals to douse the fire, according to Sarlahi Chief District Officer (CDO) Ram Prasad Thapaliya.
He distributed Rs 2,000 each to 20 families as relief.
