Newly appointed Minister for Energy Gokarna Bista could not attend the oath taking ceremony as he is receiving treatment at Manmohan Memorial Hospital. Some unidentified assailants had attacked Bista, injuring him critically, on Monday after being nominated as a minister from his party.
Shortly after the new ministers were sworn in, six out of seven state ministers were also administered oath of office and secrecy amidst a function at the National Planning Commission inside Singh Durbar. The state ministers included Shatrudhan Mahato, Dal Bahadur Sunar, Ramji Sharma, Dambar Sambahamphe, Bhagawati Chaudhary and Dr Lharkyal Lama.
Radha Gyawali, who has been named state minister for education, skipped the swearing-in ceremony.
“She has not come into contact with the prime minister since her appointment. We do not exactly know why she did not attend the oath taking ceremony,” said Surya Thapa, the prime minister´s press advisor.
