KATHMANDU, July 17: Four airline companies -- Air Nepal, Alpine Air, Muktinath Airlines and Gorkha Air -- have lost their Air Operation Certificate (AOC) after the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) was not convinced with the airlines´ financial and technical strength.

The certificates were nullified with effect from July 16 as per aviation regulations, according to a CAAN source. If the airlines have convincing bases including aircraft, pilots, regular flights and strong financial base then they can come up with a proposal within 180 days of the decision, the source said. CAAN has renewed the certificates of 25 Nepali airline companies.
