2nd Entrepreneurs' Boot Camp from Sept 21

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs' Forum (NYEF), in association with US Embassy in Kathmandu, is organizing 2nd Entrepreneurship Boot Camp at Gokarna Forest Resort, Kathmandu, from September 21 to 23.

The first boot camp had seen 30 participants from diverse background, most of whom were from outside the valley, the forum said, adding that it encouraged the start ups think outside the box to work on their ideas, all the while being constantly made to think about the idea's feasibility and scalability.The winners of the first boot camp also participated in a two-week pre-incubation program and many have already started their business or are in the process of starting one, NYEF said in a statement.

With the theme of 'Unleash Your Ideas', this iteration of boot camp targets people with a strong, demonstrable interest in starting, or being involved in, the creation of a new business, said Ajay Shrestha, chair of the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp.

"With a mission to open the platform of entrepreneurship and business to all professional arenas, the three-day residential program will proceed with 30 applicants after a holistic review of their application and business idea," Shrestha said, adding that the boot camp will provide participants invaluable knowledge and experience in pursuing entrepreneurship. "During the event, the teams will have intensive sessions on enhancing their understanding on starting a business, completing and presenting the business model canvas, with a particular emphasis on design thinking process and financial planning."

The teams will also be assigned mentors to help them in formulating and creating a strong business plan, he added.

The program also aims at inviting several established entrepreneurs and business leaders to provide inspiration and insights about idea, business strength and sustainability to the participants. The participants will get an opportunity to be a part of the vibrant community of aspiring entrepreneurs. "This community will be a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to connect with seasoned entrepreneurs and experts," Shrestha informed. "Winning ideas will also get access to the pool of mentors at the forum as well as an opportunity to further work on their idea through forum's Business Pre-Incubation program. This time there is also prizes worth Rs 100,000 to the winners."

The forum also expects to constantly follow-up with the participants and their business ideas in an attempt to maintain a close-knit community and a healthy ecosystem of aspiring entrepreneurs.

"This boot camp is for youths who want to solve existing problems in the market through entrepreneurship. We will help them refine their ideas, provide startup space, connect with mentors and potential investors," he said, adding, "We will help aspiring entrepreneurs to put their ideas into action."
