23 sacks of tobacco leaves seized from Siraha

LAHAN, June 8: Police impounded 23 sacks of smuggled tobacco leaves from Majhaura-4 in Siraha district on Sunday based on a tip off. The tobacco product was being imported from India by evading taxes.A team of police from Area Police Office Maheshpur seized the tobacco leaves that were carried in 11 different bicycles meant to evade the tax.

Police Inspector Yuddha Kumar Shrestha said that the smugglers threw down the tobacco leaves and fled after security persons reached the site. The tobacco leaves would be handed over to the Customs Office, Shrestha said. RSS
